You will receive a zip file that contains:A full frame video for projectors with a zoom lens, projecting on walls or playing on a TV.
Two videos for projectors that have a fixed lens.
All videos are available in .mp4, .wmv and .mov formats. Contact me if you need any others.
Standard use - pumpkin display:The
first choice is to decide where your decoration will be. You want it to
be visible but not where people will be walking. You don't want anyone
to step in between the projector and the pumpkin and ruin the illusion!
Also, while smoke machines are great for most Halloween effects, you
don't want any smoke around your projection. It will end up displaying
on the smoke and not the pumpkin. See below for an idea about using
smoke machines!
Place
your pumpkin where you want it to be. Place your projector and point it
at the pumpkin. Ideally the projector should be mounted on the ceiling
and angled down, or placed low and angled up towards the pumpkin. Use
the keystone control on your projector to balance out the display.
To
play the video, there are several options. Many projectors have USB
ports and can play different video formats (my projector will play .mp4
and .wmv files). If your projector has this option you just copy the
correct file for your situation (see ZOOM LENS/FIXED LENS section) and
play it directly from the projector. If you projector does not have
this option, you can connect a laptop to your projector (via the HDMI
or VGA port) and play the video from the laptop in a media player of
your choice. You can also burn the files to a DVD and play them from a
DVD player connected to your projector. If you have any issues be sure
to contact me for help! - Ken@Kisu-Media.com
The
video provided is a 20 minute loop. Check your media players
instructions to see how to loop it so it can play longer without you
having to restart it. VLC player is free and has a great loop function.
The
face of the pumpkin changes size slightly during the animation. Be sure
to play through the animation and adjust your projector to make sure it
all fits properly.
If
it's very dark in your display area, be sure to add some ambient light
to clean up the falloff projection behind the pumpkin. I've found that
some holiday lights do the trick quite well while still maintaining the
spooky mood.
Be
sure to hide your projector behind a prop so it can't be seen, but
leave enough room that it gets proper ventilation and won't overheat.
Set up your speakers so they face out from the pumpkin. Find a clever way to hide those as well!
Play the video and enjoy!
Other uses:You
can use the full frame video for projecting on walls if you want a
large or even giant animated pumpkin. You can also crank up a smoke
machine and project into the smoke for an eerie effect.
Try
hanging a shower curtain liner over a window (from the inside). Dim the
lights or turn them off completely. Display the projection on the
curtain from inside and you will have a giant animated display that
looks amazing from outside!
If
you don't have a projector, just play the full frame video video
through a tv or computer monitor. Find ways to hide or disguise it!
ZOOM LENS/FIXED LENS info:Some
projectors have a zoom feature that will let you adjust the size of the
video without having to move the projector. If your projector has this
feature, you should be able to use the full frame video and adjust your
projector's zoom as needed.
Other
projectors (like mine) have a fixed lens. This means the size of the
projection is determined by the distance the projector is from the
surface the display is on. If you have this type of projector and use
the full frame version you'll end up having to place the projector
about 2 feet in front of the pumpkin. To address this issue I've
created a fixed lens version that will let you place the projector back
approximately 6 feet. Don't worry, it looks exactly the same! If you
have a fixed lens and have any issues w/ distance let me know and I can
get you a custom size that will work for you!
